Caroline leads on our two core commissions from NHS England – the Eastern Patient Safety Collaborative and increasing access to proven innovations.

Caroline has over 20 years NHS experience and has held quality improvement, information analytics and performance management roles in multiple NHS trusts, strategic health authorities and the Department of Health, working on several national improvement programmes, including the successful Healthcare Associated Infections programme.

She is passionate about empowering the workforce with the right skills and time to do quality improvement for the benefit of patients, carers and staff.

Over the years we have shared some fantastic improvements in our Impact Reviews and she is particularly proud of the progress seen in improving maternity and neonatal services and implementation of Martha’s Rule. Caroline is passionate about using data to drive improvements in service delivery and patient safety and was delighted to see recognition of the opportunities to use data intelligently in Dr Penny Dash’s review of patient safety across the health and care landscape.

Caroline holds a postgraduate diploma in leadership and management in public services and is an Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) trained Improvement Advisor.

“I am passionate about empowering frontline staff with quality improvement skills to test and embed improvements. They often already know the key things that need to change, yet we don’t always allow them the voice or freedom to improve the quality and safety of patient care.”
