1. What are cookies?

A cookie is a small electronic file of letters and numbers that we store on your browser or the hard drive of your computer if you agree. Cookies contain information that is transferred to your computer’s hard drive. To find out more about cookies, including how to see what cookies have been set and how to manage and delete them, visit www.allaboutcookies.org.

2. Why are cookies used?

Cookies carry information from one session on a website to another, or between sessions on related websites, without having to burden a server machine with massive amounts of data storage.

Storing the data on the server without using cookies would also be problematic because it would be difficult to retrieve a particular user’s information without requiring a login on each visit to our website. If there is a large amount of information to store, then a cookie can simply be used to identify a given user so that further related information can be looked up on a server-side database. Subsequently when the site is revisited the server will read the cookie to find the username, and then retrieve all the user’s information from the database without it having to be re-entered.

3. How we use cookies

We may use the following cookies:

  • Strictly necessary These are cookies that are required for the operation of our website. They include, for example, cookies that enable you to log into secure areas of our website.
  • Analytical/performance These cookies help us to recognise and count the number of visitors and to see how visitors move around our website when they are using it. This helps us to improve the way our website works, for example, by ensuring that users are finding what they are looking for easily. We use third parties, such as Google Analytics, as web analytics tools.
  • Marketing cookies. These are used to track visitors across websites. The intention is to display ads that are relevant and engaging for the individual user and thereby more valuable for publishers and third party advertisers.
  • Video Player cookies. These remember user preference, and provide insights into viewer behavior such as watch duration and pause points. This data is used to improve technical performance, and personalise the user experience. Analytical video player cookies also track viewing statistics and trends.

Please note that any third-party links on our site may also use cookies; you may receive these cookies by clicking on the link to the third-party site. We do not control the collection or use of information by these third parties, and these are not subject to this privacy policy.

5. There is an unlisted cookie here?

Because our website uses a content management system and added third-party plugins it can sometimes be difficult for us to notice every single cookie being used, especially after software updates. If you do notice a cookie that slips past us or have a question about cookies, please contact us at enquiries@healthinnovationeast.co.uk.

There are also some essential cookies which are required for the website to work; these can only be blocked by changing your browser settings.

6. YouTube and Vimeo cookies

We embed videos from our YouTube and Vimeo channels using their respective privacy enhanced modes. These modes may set cookies on your computer once you click on the video players, but YouTube and Vimeo will not store personally identifiable cookie information for playbacks of embedded videos using the privacy-enhanced modes.
